"Is everyone clear on the last steps? We'll activate the coil in a controlled sequence, monitoring for any energy spikes or fluctuations. This is uncharted territory, so let's proceed with caution."

We had worked through the whole day, the teams coiling wire nonstop for hours now after building the second coil on the roof. The sun began to set as Liza formed her earth bunker for us to observe from, the towers gloriously staring down at me.

Wire ran from the mage battery to the wall then to the palace roof, swaying lightly in the breeze. After a few last-minute checks, we were ready. I didn't think we would have any issue with the Tesla coil, but it was better to be safely tucked away in a grounded bunker.

The moment had arrived. My heart pounded in my chest, and I looked at my team, then over at Romas and Mara.

"On my count. Three... two... one... activate!"

The air mages channeled their energy into the large battery input of the wall coil and the silverstone core began to hum, softly at first, then louder. Arcs of electricity danced from the first coil as it charged, reaching skyward as if challenging the heavens. For a moment, I held my breath as I looked at the arrow that we were going to shoot through the field to simulate a water dragon.

And then I felt it. My hair stood on end as electricity surged through me, the coil’s heads nearing peak capacity. The second coil on the palace roof started shooting sparks into the sky as it also charged up. I nodded to the archer, who nodded back. She aimed from the dirt path in front of us and fired the soaked arrow high into the air above the city and the device.

As the arrow soared through the air, its wet tail trailing behind it, my eyes flicked to the Tesla coils. My hand, tingling with the electric charge that still pulsed through me, twitched subtly. The air mages intensified their focus, the hum of the coil rising to a near-roar.

With a deafening crack, bolts of electricity leaped from the forcefield, lancing out to meet the water-soaked arrow in mid-air. The result was spectacular—a dazzling burst of light and steam, the arrow disintegrated in a flash, leaving only a trail of dissipating energy behind.

The gathering erupted into cheers, the pent-up tension of the moment released in a wave of jubilation and awe. The mages who had been channeling their energy into the coil sagged a little, the drain evident, but their faces alight with triumph. They pumped their fists from the first level, shouting down to us. Even Romas, who had seen countless battles and skirmishes, let out a deep, appreciative rumble, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

I turned to the Fekan archer, who was staring wide-eyed at the space where her arrow had been just moments before.

"Good shot," I called out over the cheering.

She chuckled nervously, "Holy cow, Noah. That thing is powerful!"

I nodded. "Just wait until the dragons come.
